Information resources and picks for the Soil and Water Supervisor races
First some information resources, then my picks for the three contested 2012 Hennepin County Soil and Water Supervisor races.
- Star-Tribune blurbs about:
- Vote 411 Voter Guide for District 3 and District 4 (they have no info on either candidate for District 1).
- Two posts from a local blogger with some interesting information about the District 1 race, and a pithy observation on the District 3 race that I pretty much agree with: original and followup.
- Another blogger with an overview of these races.
My picks are:
- District 1 - Eleonore Wesserle. Haefs doesn't actually seem too bad, but in order of relevance: (1) for a technical board dealing with Soil and Water Conservation I'll pick the one with the conservation biology degree, (2) Wesserle works for the IATP, which does great work, and (3) I'll pick the city candidate over the suburb candidate.
- District 3 - Brian T. Peterson. Clear choice: someone with a science background for a board with a technical scope vs. a tax lawyer and an anti-government Tea Partier.
- District 4 - Richard B. Strong. This one is a closer call; from what little info I find, neither one seems horrible. I'll go with Strong because he seems to have both deeper and broader background and relevant experience.
